Miss Martin

My name is Kali Martin and I am so grateful to be teaching at Rose Union Elementary School.  I grew up in Edmond, Oklahoma and attended Edmond North High School.  I graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education.

I have a wonderful family and a younger sister, Tara, who is a junior at the University of Oklahoma.  Yes, we have a house divided!  I became engaged on New Years Eve 2006 and am planning a wedding for May 2009.   My fiancé, Josh, works as a landman in the oil business.  Outside of the classroom I enjoy reading, cooking, watching movies and traveling.  I love spending time with my family and my two dogs, Cayenne and Pepper.

I student taught for two semesters before graduating from Oklahoma State University; one semester in a first grade classroom at Rose Union.  I loved Rose Union and the Deer Creek school district so much that I couldn’t imagine myself anywhere else!  Children are truly my passion and I am so thankful to be working in such an amazing school alongside an incredible group of teachers and staff, as well as wonderful and supportive Deer Creek families!

I believe that children learn best when they can relate their learning experiences to their life and when they feel comfortable and confident taking risks as learners.  I feel it is important to build a classroom community in which all students are engaged and feel safe working together to solve problems and learn from one other.  I consider it a great privilege to be entrusted with the responsibility to teach this bright and beautiful group of young children.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to call or e-mail me throughout the school year.
